Simanjiro experiences a semi-arid climate with distinct wet and dry seasons, typical of the northern Tanzanian landscape. The rainy season, occurring between November and April, brings lush greenery, transforming the plains and providing ample grazing grounds for herbivores. The dry season, from June to October, is characterized by lower humidity and clear skies, making wildlife more concentrated around water sources. The climate supports a variety of vegetation types, from grasslands to acacia-dominated woodlands, which sustain diverse wildlife populations throughout the year.
Simanjiro’s landscape is characterized by rolling plains, gentle hills, and scattered woodlands that create a stunningly varied topography. The terrain includes open savannah grasslands, dense thickets, and scattered acacia trees, which offer different habitats for various wildlife species. The region’s slight elevation changes create natural lookout points and safe habitats for animals, adding to the area’s appeal for both conservation and responsible hunting activities. The Simanjiro hunting area spans approximately 2,500 square kilometers (2,500,000,000 square meters), offering vast open spaces that allow for natural animal movements and migration patterns.
Simanjiro hunting area is home to a wide range of wildlife species, including both large and small game animals. Commonly sighted species include iconic African animals such as elephants, Maasai bushbuck, Fringe-eared oryx, zebra, and a variety of antelope species like Grant’s gazelle and impala. The area is also known for its carnivore populations, including lions, leopards, and cheetahs, which play a crucial role in maintaining the ecological balance. This biodiverse region also supports numerous bird species, making it a rich habitat for both flora and fauna.
Our camp in north Tanzania Maasai land features a thoughtfully designed layout that includes six (6) luxury tents, each with the capacity to host up to 2 guests, and the camp can host up to 8 guests. The three spacious tents are beautifully appointed and provide guests with an open yet private experience in the heart of the savannah. Each tent is designed to harmonize with the natural surroundings while providing comfort and convenience. Guests can enjoy a rustic yet refined ambiance, with features like comfortable 5X6 bedding, Wi-Fi, ensuite bathrooms, and areas to relax while taking in the surrounding views.
